Fr. Michael is a native of Belfast and is no stranger to parish ministry, having served as parish priest in the Carmelite-run parish of Ballyhale, Co. Kilkenny in the 1980s and in Whitefriar Street in the 1990s. He joined the Order at the same time as Fr Jimmy and for many years they laboured together in Carmelite College, Moate. He was a member of the Terenure College community up to the time of his appointment here in 2006. A man of considerable pastoral ability and many gifts, Fr Michael has engaged fully with all the activities of the parish and liaises with several groups. He is also blessed with a ‘green thumb’ and is responsible for the colourful flower beds in and around the presbytery and church.
Ordained in 1977; Fintan spent many years in secondary education, including teaching in Carmelite College, Moate, Co. Westmeath and Principal of Terenure College, Dublin. He was elected Prior Provincial of the Irish Province and the Commissariate in Zimbabwe in 2000. Having completed his terms in leadership, he was a member of the Carmelite Community in Knocktopher, Kilkenny for three years. In 2012, he returned to GortMuire, Ballinteer where he held various administrative roles for the Province. Fr. Martin Paravookaran is originally from Kerala in India. The eldest of three, he was ordained in 2005. Having moved to Ireland in 2008, he spent two years in Beaumont and then joined the Carmelite community here in Knocklyon in October 2010. He did a Masters of Arts in Pastoral Leadership at All Hallows College, Drumcondra.
In his spare time, Fr. Martin enjoys watching cricket and is now trying his hand at badminton.
