Fr. Michael is a native of Belfast and is no stranger to parish ministry, having served as parish priest in the Carmelite-run parish of Ballyhale, Co. Kilkenny in the 1980s and in Whitefriar Street in the 1990s. He joined the Order at the same time as Fr Jimmy and for many years they laboured together in Carmelite College, Moate. He was a member of the Terenure College community up to the time of his appointment here in 2006. A man of considerable pastoral ability and many gifts, Fr Michael has engaged fully with all the activities of the parish and liaises with several groups. He is also blessed with a ‘green thumb’ and is responsible for the colourful flower beds in and around the presbytery and church.
Fr. Martin Paravookaran is originally from Kerala in India. The eldest of three, he was ordained in 2005. Having moved to Ireland in 2008, he spent two years in Beaumont and then joined the Carmelite community here in Knocklyon in 2010. He is currently studying for a Masters of Arts in Pastoral Leadership at All Hallows College, Drumcondra. This involves academic work and also a pastoral placement focused on reaching out to families in the parish.
In his spare time, Fr. Martin enjoys watching cricket and is now trying his hand at badminton.
